Over the past month, Southern China has been hit by the biggest snowstorm in over 50 years. Places that have gone generations without ever seeing snow are ill-equipped for this sudden climate change, and millions are suffering from hardships such as inadequate clothing, loss of power and running water, and scarce food supply, just to name a few. Millions more are stranded on frozen commuter routes with nowhere to go.
This fund-raising event is joint-operated by the UOCSA and the Eduation Office of the Chinese Embassy. All donations are put forth together with funds raised by other schools and organizations in the Ottawa area, then wired to regions in China in most need of warm clothes and food. All amounts and destinations will be disclosed.
To donate: On Tuesday, we will take the opportunity of the International Week event to collect donations at our booth on ground floor UCU. From Wednesday to Friday, we will be accepting donations from 1:00 to 5:30 pm at the Clubs room (UCU lounge). This fundraising event ends on Sunday, Feb 17. If you wish to make an appointment to donate at another location at anytime, please contact Harris at 613-220-0066 or Can at 613-698-9877.
Your help is greatly appreciated!
